The biggest change is that we have introduced the BLOG (personal page) module - there is a separate entry on this below. The most important changes that happened in the postcard (personal gallery) module are the following:

- in order to send a postcard visitors now get a confirmation e-mail in order to avoid sending "fake" cards (and SPAM); this obviously requires the sender to have a valid and working e-mail address
- uploaded gallery images are now stored in original size in JPEG for later use as well as in resized form
- passwords are stored encoded from now on, which also means that we are no longer able to send you your "forgotten" password; instead, you can ask for reseting your password; this new process enhances security
- when registering you must provide a valid and working e-mail address; in general, we should be able to contact users any time via e-mail; if valid contact data is not provided, the account in question will be deleted
- your administration interface to your gallery (and now blog) is moved to http://www.yourpostcardsite.com/admin/
- the "Themes" page has been restructured; themes on the main page now link to a new search page in order to help visitors find the images uploaded by our users
- "adult content" is now allowed to a certain extent; however, images which might not be suitable for all age groups MUST BE denoted as such
- themes are now attached to images and not categories as before
- while registering you can also chose an alternative domain (currently only "syntaxpoint.com" is available), which cannot be modified later

The BLOG module is a completely new addition to YPCS. It is being developed actively - however, what you can see and read here gives a good summary of its abilities.

Your blog contains entries and subtitles. Let's see how that works.

Under the "Administration" menu you can create subtitles - these are the menus of your blog, so that you can categorise your entries. Each entry is attached chronologically to a subtitle. Entries are edited in single text mode, with the addition that there are some control characters that can create specific effects in the displayed text.

You can change the style of some words:
**foo** => foo (bold)
//foo// => foo (italics)
__foo bar__ => foo bar (underlined)

(Please note that you cannot nest control characters, for example you cannot make your text bold and underlined at the same time.)

There are certain more complex control chatacters which we call tags. Typically they are enclodes in square brackets in the form of [ ... ]. If our software encounters them in your input, it will make some specific formattings.

For example:

You can link to another page by using the [link:url] form. The "url" is the hyperlink, containing the URL of the webpate:
[link:http://www.pugscode.org] will create http://www.pugscode.org

You can change the text of the link if you add some text after the url in the link tag separated by a space:
[link:http://www.coolcamels.com Virtual Camels] will create Virtual Camels

You can also use emoticons a.k.a. smilies using the [icon:...] tag:
[icon:lol] =>
[icon:rotfl] =>
[icon:smiley] =>

However, the most interesting feature is the ability to include images from your gallery in the text. You can use the [img:...] for this.
Here is a simple way to insert an image:

Seagul - California

The [img:seagull1] tag includes the thumbnail of the image named "seagull1" (see "short id" when uploading an image).
By default, the text that is AFTER this tag will be placed immediately beside the image, creating a paragraph. To end a paragraph, use the [-] tag.

Images can be moved left to the following paragraph (as the default is align-right):

Seagull - Hungary

Just enter [img:seagull2,left] to achieve this effect - that is, place a comma after the image id, and enter "left".

The title displayed is the title you have given when uploading the image. Clicking on the image redirects the user to the "show image" page.
